Coming Up With My February Bullet Journal Theme
I’ll be honest with you all. I’m not big on actual Valentine’s Day. My husband and I typically rent a movie, get pizza and wings, and snuggle in our jammies, so it’s typically a pretty laid back, no frills night in our lives. However, I do have to say that I love the super cute things that come with the month of February. I’m a big fan of black and red, I’m fairly obsessed with lady bugs, and I love being creative.
Therefore, when it came time to plan for February in my Rhodia Goalbook Bullet Journal, there was no doubt in my mind what I was going to be doing; a love bug theme. The love bug theme hits all those things I love about the month of love!
Welcoming in the New Month
For my double page introduction spread, I decided to do LOVE letters with a love bug print. I added some cute grass and flowers to add to the aesthetic and make the letters seem a little more like lady love bugs. Above the LOVE, I wrote out the month with my 847 Tombow Dual Brush Pen and then wrote over that with my Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen. This year, I’m wanting to try new headers in my journal, and this is a new to me style that I’m definitely loving.
This monthly spread has been my go to for several months now. It is so simple, but it gets the job done. It gives me a space to move everything from my Calendex into one easy to read location, which makes it super easy for me to move those activities into my weeklies or make plans and schedule appointments.
Gratitude & Self Love
These are two of my most underused and most needed spreads. I am really working on being grateful for the things, people, and joy I have in my life. Making sure that I am taking time for me and giving myself time to decompress is a challenge. Having this spread helps me to remember the small things that I can do to give myself a little pick me up. Sometimes it’s as simple as grabbing a coffee at Starbucks, and sometimes it’s as relaxing as heading to a movie alone.
This month I changed up my tracker a bit. I gave myself headings for the areas that I’m working on developing. Those heading are sleep, health, and emotional.
I suffer from insomnia and RLS, so in the past I have had a really hard time sleeping. With the help of medication and some other changes, I’m doing fairly well with my sleep now. I’m also student teaching which helps to exhaust me and I sleep much better now. During the week, I typically wake up around 5:30 am and head to bed around 10 pm now. On the weekend, I will stay up until about 11 or midnight and get up between 7:30 and 8. These routines are working pretty well for me, so I will probably be moving away from tracking sleep in March.
For health, I am tracking my morning and evening medications, exercise, not drinking soda, my daily shower, and water intake. Out of these, I’m probably going to stop tracking my daily shower, because that is just a given and left over from my old tracker where I was tracking way too much, and not drinking soda, which I’ve been doing extremely well with since our 21 day detox in January. I’ll keep my am/pm medications, exercise, and water intake tracking because these are things that I’m not always as diligent about.
For my emotional/connection section, I’m tracking my reading, writing, coffee, me date, dates with my husband, and time out with friends. These are all things that I do for me because I enjoy them. Similar to my self love spread, it helps me to ensure that I am doing the things that I love and enjoy and not just things I have to do.
Last month my focus was on getting my eating habits under control. I participated in the 21 day sugar detox, and it has mad a huge difference in my diet. This month, I’m adding in exercise. I’ve found a channel on YouTube, Yoga with Adrienne, and am trying out her 30 Days of Yoga video series. There is also Yoga and Barre Yoga offered at our gym, so I’m planning to try out the group classes there as well.
I’m loving InCoWriMo. This is a month of letter writing every day. I have 28 envelopes and 28 people I am planning to write to, one every day of the month of February.
Weight Loss Tracker
With the changes to my diet and adding in exercise, I am attempting to lose the weight I’ve added on in my adult life. I have a long way to go, but seeing how far I’ve progressed helps me to keep motivated.
I am just terrible at remembering this. I’ve tried tracking in my phone and the app just sits there unused. I’m hoping this will be more successful and allow me to track everything in one place.
